The Nizich Difference
Individualized Therapy
We emphasize play-based therapy because play is the most effective and natural way for children to learn. Since play is something children are inherently motivated to do, embedding therapeutic goals into playful activities increases the likelihood that they will retain and replicate those skills outside of the speech therapy setting. By tailoring each session to a child’s specific interests, we tap into what excites and motivates them—making them more eager to participate and engage in the work. They may think we’re simply playing—but really, we’re working. The work is thoughtfully disguised as play, allowing us to target essential skills in a way that feels fun, engaging, and aligned with how children naturally explore and grow.
As children grow, their interests and learning styles naturally evolve—and so does our approach to therapy. While play is a powerful tool for younger kids, older children may begin to outgrow traditional play-based activities. That’s why we take an individualized approach, designing sessions around what is both developmentally appropriate and personally engaging. Whether it’s targeting articulation skills using the names of your child’s favorite basketball players, or embedding language goals into a strategy-based board game, we tailor therapeutic tasks to be relevant, motivating, and achievable. By tapping into your child’s unique interests, we keep him/her engaged while making meaningful progress towards goals.
Parent Collaboration
We’re the experts when it comes to speech and language disorders—but you’re the expert when it comes to your child. That’s why we prioritize a collaborative, ongoing exchange of information to ensure therapy is tailored to what will help your child succeed most. We actively encourage family involvement in the therapeutic process, guiding parents and caregivers in how to confidently use proven techniques at home. When families are equipped with the tools to support their child between sessions, progress tends to happen faster and more consistently. Simply put, your involvement doesn’t just complement therapy—it amplifies it.
This even applies to older children. Therapy doesn’t end when the session does—it extends into everyday life. We work closely with parents and caregivers to identify simple, practical ways to reinforce speech and language goals at home. Whether it’s practicing target sounds during a car ride or using new vocabulary at the dinner table, we help families find opportunities that feel natural and manageable. These “homework” activities aren’t about adding more to your plate—they’re about making small, consistent efforts that lead to big results. When practice becomes part of the family’s routine, progress is not only faster, but more lasting.
No Insurance Constraints
As speech-language pathologists with experience in both hospital and school settings, we’ve seen firsthand the limitations of insurance policies and IEPs. That’s why our private practice is dedicated to removing the red tape that often surrounds access to speech therapy—both in terms of who qualifies and how therapy is delivered.
By operating as a private pay practice, we’re able to offer truly individualized, high-quality care without the restrictions imposed by insurance companies. Too often, coverage is denied for certain diagnoses, even when a child clearly needs support. These barriers can delay or limit access to therapy, impacting progress.
Private pay gives us the freedom to tailor every aspect of your child’s care—including how frequently we meet, which goals we prioritize, and how we adapt treatment as your child grows. It also means no surprise denials, no preauthorization delays, and no arbitrary limits on session length or duration. Just clear, consistent care with full transparency—and your child at the center of it all.
